The results of disinfection organizations activities for preventive disinfection disinfection, disinsection and deratization in 2011 year

Osipova N. Z., Cherniavskaya O. P., Tsarenko V. A., Cand. Sc. (Biol.) FSHI “Federal Hygiene and Epidemiology Center by Rospotrebnadzor, Varshavskoye sh., 19 а, Moscow, 117105

The article presents the results of preventive disinfection, disinsection and deratization activities by disinfection enterprises, institutions, disinfection departments of hygiene and epidemiology centers, according to the Office of the Federal service on customers' rights protection and human well-being surveillance in regions of the Russian Federation in 2011. Some present data are compared with ones of previous years.

INFECTIOUS AND PARASITIC DISEASES

Features of epidemiology and prevention of highly contagious viral infections (measles, mumps, rubella)

A. L. Belyaev, Cand. Sc. (Med.), D. I. Ivanovsky Federal State Research Institute of Virology, Minzdravsocrazvitia Rossii, ul. Gamallei, 16, Moscow, 123098

Materials, concerning the deterioration of the measles epidemiological situation in the world, including in the WHO European Region and in Russia in 2010–2011 are presented. Analysis of Rospotrebnadzor methodological documents of measles, mumps and rubella prevention has been carried out. The necessity to amplify the preventive measures, and especially children and adults vaccination by these infections, is emphasized The high probability of these diseases contagion as viral infections associated with healthcare-accociated infection (HAI) is noted.

Keywords: measles, mumps and rubella, patient, medical staff, vaccinal prevention, hospital viral infection, healthcare-accociated infection (HAI)

Exotic transmissible diseases of animals in nonendemic areas

Makarov V.V., professor, Department of Veterinary Pathology, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Miklukho-Maklaya str., 6, Moscow 117198.

The emergence and expansion of transmissible exotic transboundary and bluetonguelike infections in nonendemic areas reflects the current stage of the infectious diseases evolution and represents the actual problem in the epizootiology and epidemiology. The objective changes in episystems "host-vectorpathogen- environment", determined by natural and climatic factors are the main causes of it. General parasite-system features of exotic infections in new conditions of their expansion determine the difficulty of their control.

Key words: transmissible infections, bluetongue, Schmallenberg disease, nonendemic areas

BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION

Pest control: Defend or struggle?

Shekarova O. N., Cand. Sc. (Med.), Savinetskaya L.E., A. N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, 33 Leninskij prosp., Moscow, 119071

The article presents the problem of limiting the number of species that isn’t belonging to the target species of pest control. It is recommended to use the methods, excluding physical extermination of animals (protection of territory against the penetration of these species, biological control, environmental changes, creating unsuitable conditions for them).

Key words: pest control, untarget species, defend.

THE PROBLEMS OF APPLIED ENTOMOLOGY

Comparison of DNA extraction protocols from variously preserved Ixodes ricinus ticks

Movila A. A. PhD, Institute of zoology, Moldova Academy of Sciences

In the present study 3 DNA extraction methods from variously conserved questing and engorged Ixodes ricinus ticks have been compared. On the basis of received data, we can conclude that commercial extraction kit is useful for DNA extraction from all kind of research. However, in case of large amount of DNA extraction from questing ticks, the cheap DNA extraction by 0.7 M hydroxide ammonium is useful.

An algorithm for calculating the efficiency of the operator's actions at all stages of the brown rats control, from placement of the pest control items (chemical, mechanical and others) in the territory up to complete clearing the object from rats and follow-up estimation of their numbers recovery possibility are suggested. The probability of success when using a combination of pest control means is considered. The changes in population for a year are taken into consideration for calculation. The proposed calculation method can be used in training programs, as well as for the local forecast of ridding of objects from rats and their re-settling.

Key words: The populations stability, independent methods of influence, ridding of objects from rats, brown rat population recovery, the habitat capacities.

FORMULATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES

Testing of the new suit’s «BIOSTOP» protective efficiency against flea

Yu. A. Verzhutckaya, Candidate of Biological Science, linika@mail.ru A. Ya. Nikitin, Doctor of Biological Science, L. P. Bazanova, Doctor of Biological Science, Irkutsk Antiplague Research Institute, Irkutsk, Russia

M. V. Pogodaeva, Candidate of Biological Science, Irkutsk State Linguistic University, Irkutsk, Russia

Blood-sucking insects, including fleas, have a negative influence on the work efficiency of the municipal services’ employees, reduce the quality of life, and represent the epidemiological threat. It was shown experimentally that the use of a special protective suit «BIOSTOP» («FPG Energocontract», Moscow) may effectively prevent the municipal personnel from flea bites, and also rule out the insects disseminating on the workers’ clothes from breeding sites to other facilities.

Key words: flea, personal protection from hematophagous arthropods, protective clothes.

The data on promising method of clothes moth control with pheromone glue traps are presented. The principles of pheromone traps action and effect are studied. It’s made the conclusion that pheromone traps is necessary in household use because this control method is the most harmless for people and environment.

Keywords: clothes moth, clothes moth pheromone, glue traps with pheromones.
