INFECTIOUS AND PARASITIC DISEASES

Epidemiological situation on zoonotic Infections in the territory of Privolzhsky federal district, and the short-term prognosis of its development

Dmitrieva L. N., Shiyanova A. E., Toporkov V. P., Karnaukhov I. G.

Represented are the analytical data on morbidity rate as regards a number of zoonotic infections (hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), tularemia, leptospirosis, tick-borne encephalitis and borreliosis, anthrax, rabies, and brucellosis) over the period of 33 years, since 1980 up to 2012, their spatial distribution and possible ways of epidemiological situation development in Privolzhsky Federal District (PFD) constituent units. PFD share in all-Russian natural-focal infection incidence is 15,6 – 25, 8 %, which is comparable with PFD share in general RF population that is approximately 22 %. The most unfavorable situation is on HFRS, where significantly excessive morbidity is observed. It is estimated at 87.9 % against all-Russian incidence. Dynamics tendency over the whole period of 33 years sets 1.9-fold index increase. Average annual intensive index (II) per 100 thousand people in 2002-2012 (19. 35) exceeds similar one within the period of 1980- 2001 in 18.8 %.

Prevention of human-rodents contact as a method to diminish human morbidity by zoonotic infections (on model of plague)

Suntsov V.V., Doctor Sci (Biol.), Shilova S.A., Professor, Doctor Sci (Biol.), Severtsov A.N. Institute of Ecology and Evolution 33 Leninsky prosp., Mosсow, 119071, vvsuntsov@rambler.ru

Different rodent species can adapt to habitation near the people and contact with them closely due to their ecological, physiological and behavioral features that provokes a serious risk of zoonosis, including the plague. Deratization as a disease prevention method is the most important part of non-specific zoonose prophylaxis. A new conception of the plague causative agent hosts and vectors control is developed in Russia. The ways to reduce rodent-people contacts take important place in this conception [8]. A new approach to the non-specific plague prevention fully meets international requirements for the environment protection. In addition to limited rodenticides usage, a system of sanitary measures providing long exterminating effect is recommended. On the example of Vietnam it’s shown that human morbidity by plague is eliminated due to old villages development into modern rural settlements and technical protection of buildings from rodents.

The transfluthrin and empenthrin efficiency to clothes moth under the passive evaporation from the plates have been studied. Using the house flies imagoes the comparison method of volatile pyrethroids fumigation activities has been carried out. The degree of insecticidal activity was found to depends on the chemical structure of the insecticide, its volatility, the dose of the active substance and the plate area.

Compounds of macrocyclic lactones (avermectins), synthetic pyrethroids etc. classes are taken as active substance of drugs against animals diseases of sarcoptoidosis etiology. But the increasing the modern acaricide substances assortment is one of the veterinary priority task. Insectoacariside compounds which can be used in veterinary practice as active substance of drugs against animals diseases of sarcoptoidosis etiology are described in this review.

Color and pattern significance for electric insecticide traps

Ronald Van Lieron, director of AlcochemHygiene B. V.

Understanding how flying insects see the world, is a key factor in the development of insecticide traps. Alcochem Hygiene describes a study conducted in the Netherlands, which will increase the efficiency of ant traps designs in accordance with the requirements of the HACCP (HACCP).
