INFECTIOUS AND PARASITIC DISEASES

History and current state of plague field prophylaxis in the west of Kazakhstan

A.K. Grazhdanov, A.N. Matrosov, professor, FGHI Russian Research Anti-Plague Institute “Microbe”, Saratov, Russian Federation, 46 Universitetskaya St., Saratov, 410005

By the example of natural plague foci in the Volga- Ural interfluve area, the stages of hard look for the path of this dangerous infection effective prophylaxis over one hundred years are shown. Due to huge efforts of plague-control system the aerial bait treatment method with high efficacy for rapid suppression of widespread plague epizooties in natural foci has been developed and tested. However, because of objective reasons, this unprecedented practice has retained the only its historical value nowadays. Therewith, an incomparably more cost-efficient and no less effective method of local treatments against little sousliks and small gerbils, directly aimed at the human protection has been recently worked out and tested under the field conditions. Field deratization and disinsection, aimed at creation safety zones around the human settlements in the territory of epizooty, is the main epidemiologically substantiated method for urgent non-specific plague prophylaxis.

Keywords: plague epizooties, carriers and vectors of plague, epidemiological hazard, disinsection, and deratization.

The ecologo-faunistic analysis of bloodsucking mosquitoes (Diptera, Culicidae), inhabiting the territory of the Rostov region, has been carried out. Twenty three species belonging to 6 genera have been registered Anopheles, Aedes, Culex, Culiseta, Uranotaenia, Coquillettidia, 12 species has disappeared from collections: 7 – Aedes, 3 – Culex and 1 – Anopheles and 1 – Culiseta. Characteristics of mosquitoes fauna are: significant species diversity of genera Aedes noticeable role of genera Culiseta and Anopheles in mosquitoes fauna, the relative species poverty of the genus Culex. The data about medical significance of bloodsucking mosquitoes that act as vectors of the the regional infections causative agents: viruses of the West Nile, Inco, Batai, Sindbis, and Tyaginya fevers and the causative agents of tularemia and dirofilariasis is presented.

The results of phenological observations of mosquitoes Culex pipiens- West Nile Virus (WNV) carriers in urban biocenoses of Saratov are presented. Estimating the number and distribution of synanthropic mosquitoes in the entrance halls and stairwells of multi-storey houses were conducted from September 2013 to January 2015. Mosquitoes was found to emerge in flooded basements of poor sanitary houses over the year and they present everywhere in the entrance halls and stairwells on all floors of the houses

We have analyzed dynamics of small mammals’ abundance and species composition in forest habitats of Kaluga region, Moscow region and New Moscow. Habitats have been surveyed in three physicalgeographical provinces: Central Russian province, Smolensk – Moscow province and Dnepr – Desna province. The bank vole (Myodes glareolus) prevails everywhere. It consists 83% of small mammals. There was increasing of the striped field mouse (Apodemus agrarius) at the last half of 2006 year in the Central Russian upland. This fact corresponds with some papers about Central Russian upland in Chernozem zone.

Key words: woodland habitats, small mammals, abundance, preventive measure, epizootiological monitoring, epidemiological inspection, natural-focus diseases, bank vole, striped field mouse.

Data on the pediculosis sickness rate in Russia in 2012-2014 are presented. The situation in the administrative districts of the Russian Federation is analyzed. The system of measures to pediculosis prevention is considered and the information about modern pediculicides based on benzyl benzoate, PhOC, substances of plant origin, polysiloxane (dimethicones) et al., effective against resistant to permethrin lice is presented . Pediculicides rotation schemes, including for children of different age groups, are offered.
