The article defines ecological prerequisites contributing to Borrelia circulation on the territory of the Rostov region – namely, climate, landscape. The analysis is presented of epidemiologically significant ixodid tick species during the last fifteen years – tick abundance and distribution on the territory of the region, level of their spontaneous infection by Borrelia. The investigations of host population have given us the possibility to identify species composition and natural habitat of Borrelia carriers (rodents and birds). Within the study of the epidemic process structure, the percentage of immune individuals among population of the region is given and the incidence of ixodic tick borrelioses is analyzed. On the base of the above mentioned the authors draw conclusions about functioning of the natural focus of ixodic tick borreliosis due to the expansion of natural habitat and species composition of infected ticks, small mammals and birds, as well as about valent state of natural-anthropurgic foci confirmed by detection of disease cases.

Small mammals are one of the main objects of epizootic situation monitoring in order to provide the epidemiological surveillance and control of zoonoses. Epizootic monitoring is carrying out by sanitary and epidemiologic service from the middle of the last century. As a result the long-term data on the structure of small mammals’ populations are collected. M. (Cl.) glareolus prevailed in the rodent’s population everywhere. The share of S. flavicollis has been increased for the last years. The other eurytopic rodents have also been noted. A. uralensis and A. agrarius are the most common species among them. Extensive indicators of A. agrarius are more on the Oka-Don plain compared to the Central Russian Upland. The populations of pathogens of natural focal infections are the components of the forest ecosystems. There are natural foci of forest type zoonoses under the influence of various environmental factors.

In the last two decades, resurgence of bed bugs has observed throughout the world. In this regard, in many countries these insects have become the objects of great importance to public health. This review covers various aspects of medical and possible epidemiological significance of bed bugs, mainly Cimex lectularius and C. hemipterus.

The evaluation possibilities of supplier of rodenticide substances 4-hydroxycoumarin (brodifacoum, difenacoum, flocoumafen, bromadiolone) with the involvement of RP HPLC method are considered. Determination of the isomer composition of the rodenticide substances (ratio of geometric isomers) is suggested as the main assessment criterion. Sample preparation and analysis by RP HPLC method under isocratic mode of model solutions and the test composition, in order to establish the isomeric composition of rodenticide substances used in the «pest control» measures are considered. Optimal conditions and the determination limits of the isomer composition of substances (difenacoum, flocoumafen and brodifacoum), including for the compositions based on six derivatives are founded. Based on the analysis of chromatographic data a rapid assessment of the rodenticides toxicity and the rating of suppliers of substances are suggested.

Epidemiological and sanitary-hygienic value of synanthropic flies being the mechanical vectors of many human diseases pathogens, causes to continue the search and development effective, but at the same time, the safest for human means for flies reduction. For certain categories of objects where you can not use sprays or irrigation method, it’s recommended to use low-toxic food poison baits containing attracting flies substances, including sugar or syrup. The form of insecticidal lacquer with high efficiency and prolonged (more than two months) residual effect has great perspectives. Such preparations are developed by domestic enterprise, their efficacy and safety have been studied, and modes of their application have been recommended for practice.
