The results of the analysis of the age structure of the European mole (talpa europaea Linnaeus, 1758) population are presented. The material was obtained as a result of complete weekly catches in the period from May to October 2019 in the arboretum "Pavlovsky Park" (St. Petersburg, 59°41'37"s. w.30°27'19" w. d., on a plot of 11,11 hectares, which is 1:60 part of the area of the entire park. In this area, from 2013 to 2018, to protect the landscape and plants, full mole trapping was carried out annually from May to October.

In 2019, 58 individuals were captured, including 34 males and 24 females. Their age is determined by the layered structures of the cross sections of the mandibular bones. Moles of the first year (age group "0") they accounted for 37 %, the second (age group "1") – 46 %, the third (age group "2") – 14 %, the fourth (age group "3") – 0% and the fifth (age group "4") – 3% of the total number of captured, 29% of the individuals were in the breeding state and all of them were males. Among them, 67% in the second year and 33% in the third year of life. There is a rejuvenation of the population due to one-year-old moles (age group "1"), while maintaining a stable breeding potential in these conditions.

Abstract

The conducted tests of insecticides and the method of their application can be used in carrying out extermination measures against vectors in natural plague foci in areas with high humidity, where the use of powder insecticides is ineffective. Given the high pulecidal effectiveness of the studied drugs, it is possible to use them in the impregnation of materials and the development of systemic drugs.

Arsenal of insecticidal substances of the pyrethroid series (permethrin, d-phenothrin) and POS (fentione, malathion), used to combat blood-sucking insects of animals and humans, is supplemented with various compositions of natural and synthetic origin (oils, extracts). Other substances with a completely unstoppable mechanism of action (1,2-octanediol and benzyl benzoate) are also used. Insecticidal substations in pediculicide formulations have been used for decades, which has led to the resistance of the target objects. The paper demonstrates the analytical capabilities of monitoring raw materials and products, and considers the aspects of increasing the activity of the substance (on the example of permethrin) due to the selection of raw materials with maximum efficiency values according to biological tests of technical products. The use of maximally active insecticidal substances will allow us to try to overcome the resistance barrier without changing the formulation and without making efforts to adjust the documentation. When considering analytical approaches, methods of chromatographic (GС and RP HPLC) determination using trivial analytical equipment, advantages and disadvantages of chromatographic methods are proposed.

Abstract

A high acaricidal effectiveness 25% of the «Medilis-Ciper» emulsion concentrate at a concentration of 0.125% of the drug at a consumption rate of 20 l/ha, applied with the help of «Odonata agro 0501 and 1001» (2017-2019) and « Hexacopter Agras T-30 A» (2020)of control in steppe open areas with rare low-growing shrubs (Ethnographic complex "Ataman", Taman village, Krasnodar Krai) with Ixodes ricinus and Haemaphysalis punctata ticks. After treatments, ticks were not detected during accounting for 30 days.
